Although Poland did not become member of the European Broadcasting Union until 1993, the contest was often broadcast on Polish Television - even if delayed. Edyta Górniak's first ever performance of Poland in the contest is also the by far most successful for Poland as yet. Poland was almost disqualified that year though as Edyta sang the chorus in English in the rehearsals. Following entries were less successful, but often very favored by the fans of the contest. Not until 2003, did Poland organize a public selection and then it was no surprise when the group Ich Troje won the public vote ahead of Blue Café (favored by the fans). By 2005 though, TVP went back to an internal selection. Czarna dziewczyna was a multilingual song, performed in Polish and Russian languages. 2006 saw a comeback of a public selection in Poland's TVP. Ich Troje have participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for Poland twice, in 2003, with 7th place, and just missing out of a place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, coming 11th in the semi-final. In 2007, Poland choose "The Jet Set" as a team with will representant Poland on Eurovision Song Contest. That was a song "Time to party" - inspired by moule-rouge show.
