A political party is a political organization subscribing to a certain ideology or formed around very special issues with the aim to participate in power, usually by participating in elections.

Political parties are essential groups that play active roles in most political systems.
However, the Reform Party made its presence particularly felt in the 1992 presidential elections, when Ross Perot ran as the Reform candidate and won 19% of the vote.
By the 2000 Presidential elections, the Reform Party was virtually wiped out and Ralph Nader's Green Party campaign finished in third place with 2.7% of the vote.
