A Political Union is a type of state which is composed of smaller states. Unlike a Personal union, the individual states share a common government and the union is recognized internationally as a single political entity. Examples include the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates. A personal union is a political union of two or more entities that, internationally, are considered separate states, but through established law, share the same head of state —hence also whatever political actions are vested in the head of state, but none (or at least extremely few) others. ...
