Pom Pom is a character in the Homestar Runner animated cartoon series. Described as Homestar Runner's best friend, he is often characterized as a "ladies' man," and is well-known for his use of suave, sophisticated technology, such as Palm Pilots. One of the earliest featured characters, his origins date back to the original Homestar Runner children's book. In fact, Pom Pom was the first ever character made into a flash animation. Recently, he has been seen hanging out with The Poopsmith, The King of Town, and Homsar (the "unpopular" main characters) more often than with Homestar. Pom Pom looks like a big orange-and-yellow ball with a minimalist oval head, and appears to be inflated. Rather than speech, he communicates using an unintelligible series of bubbling sounds, which is the same-reused sample of The Brothers Chaps blowing bubbles into a glass of milk. He seems to get around by bouncing from one "foot" to the other, thus propelling himself along. Though he is for all intents a giant blob (he carries items by letting them sink into his body, including his cell phone, wallet, and handheld computer), he possesses great strength and agility, as well as a black belt, which he has used to defend himself by pummeling Strong Bad and is skilled with a bo staff. The Brothers Chaps: Mike and Matt Chapman (left to right). ... Strong Bad is a primary character in the fictional world of Flash animation cartoon series Homestar Runner. ... This article or section does not cite its references or sources. ...

Pom Pom is said to come from The Isle Of Pom, where everyone bounces around happily together. But the cartoon that stated this is no longer on the main part of the web site, but is now hidden in the "Museum" section.

Alternate versions

1936 - Fat Dudley

Fat Dudley is the Old-Timey version of Pom Pom. His features are rounder, he possesses larger eyes, and also has floating hands rather than Pom Pom's simplistic arms. He also wears dungarees and a hat. He speaks via a series of scat-like mumbles.

20X6 - Pan Pan

Futuristic anime-style Pom Pom is a giant, round Giant Panda that communicates via a weird springing sound that sounds a lot like "buddaling buddaling buddaling". Unlike Pan Pan's modern counterpart, he appears to be fat rather than inflated, and he's likely to be a spoof of Genma from Ranma ½, who predominantly communicated through signs when in panda form.
