In the Star Wars universe, Ponda Baba was an Aqualish mercenary. He was a good friend of the mad Doctor Evazan. He hailed from the planet of Ando, the Aqualish homeworld. Ponda Baba attacked Luke Skywalker at the Chalumans Cantina in Mos Eisley (portrayed in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope). This action caused Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was traveling along with Skywalker, to sever the Aqualish's arm with his lightsaber, clearly causing the Aqualish great pain. Later, Dr. Evazan finds and attaches a prosthetic arm to Ponda Baba but is shortly killed by Boba Fett, as both of the duo were wanted.
