Encyclopedia > Pop Matters

PopMatters is an online popular culture magazine that covers a broad scope of mediums, including music, television, films, books, video games, computer software, theatre, the visual arts, and the internet. It has a monthly readership of over one million. Positions as reviewers are unsalaried.

The PopShop, an online store hosted by PopMatters, offers music, DVDs, books and computer games that have been suggested by members of PopMatters’ staff. However, instead of actually selling products, the PopShop provides a PopMatters review and a link to a vendor who does sell the merchandise.

Two blogs, "Perpiatic Postcards" by Todd “tjm” Holden and "Marginal Utility" by Rob Homing, are hosted on PopMatters. "Perpiatic Postcards" is a travel blog, and "Marginal Utility" is an attack on modern consumerism.
