Port Hope is a village in Huron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 310. The village is within Rubicon Township.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.6 km˛ (1.0 mi˛). 2.6 km˛ (1.0 mi˛) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 310 people, 132 households, and 95 families residing in the village. The population density is 119.7/km˛ (308.7/mi˛). There are 203 housing units at an average density of 78.4/km˛ (202.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 98.71% White, 0.00% African American, 1.29% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.32% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 132 households out of which 24.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.4% are married couples living together, 7.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.67.


In the village the population is spread out with 20.0% under the age of 18, 5.5% from 18 to 24, 20.3% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 28.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 48 years. For every 100 females there are 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 101.6 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $31,071, and the median income for a family is $34,167. Males have a median income of $26,875 versus $18,125 for females.
