Portaria (Greek: Πορταριά, related to door) is one of the 24 villages of Mt. Pelion, Magnesia, Greece, facing the Pagasetic Gulf. It is located N of Volos and its suburbs. The houses, its windows and its doors are painted beautifully with a variety of colors with beautifully colored edges. The mountaintop of Pelion is to the north.
Portaria has a school, a lyceum, a gymnasium, banks, a post office and a square (plateia).
The mountainous village of Portaria in the Pelion peninsula, is one of the most famous of all villages in Pelion, and is one that is ideal for visiting all year round.
At an altitude of 650 meters, Portaria is often referred to as the gateway to the upper regions of Mount Pelion, as well as being a very popular village with visitors to the ski centre of Agriolefkes, which is in full operation during the winter season.
Portaria is a village filled with beautiful scenery and imagery, and id filled with many beautiful traditional mansions, spring water fountains and cobblestone paths, which one can follow and enjoy a fascinating stroll around the village.
