Poton de Xaintrailles (1390-1461) was one of the chief lieutenants of Joan of Arc. He participated in the siege of Orleans (1429) and the battles of Jargeau, Meung, Beaugency, and Patay. In 1454, he was made a Marshal of France. Image of Joan of Arc, painted between 1450 and 1500 (Centre Historique des Archives Nationales, Paris, AE II 2490). ... Poton de Xaintrailles was captured in March 1431, by the earl of Warwick, when his raiding force attempted to ambush the English regent, duke Bedford.
