Zo werd het "pottenkant" wat betekende: grove kloskant met doorlopende draden.
In 1977 werd nog pottenkant vervaardigd te Kieldrecht in België.
Schoten ligt dicht tegen Antwerpen en niettegenstaande "pottenkant" een typische Antwerpse kantsoort was, was "pot" toch niet zo geschikt als naam voor een groep.
Voor het eerst is in de tentoonstelling de ontwikkeling te zien van de kleine Duitse muts naar de floddermuts, waarvoor veel minder kant nodig was.
De kant die voor die mutsen werd gebruikt was vaak modieus, van Antwerpse pottenkant tot de verfijnde Biedermeier boeketjes in de Rijsselse kanten.
Daarnaast had men in Friesland tot in de 20ste eeuw een voorliefde voor de speciale mutsenkanten uit België met een klassiek symmetrisch patroon.Transparante geborduurde batist en tule werden bij feestelijke gelegenheden gebruikt voor de halsdoeken of tipdoeken en sierschorten.
