Background Story

His original intention, with his brother Saphir, was to reason with Neo Queen Serenity as they are descendants of criminals, and not actually criminals themselves. However, Wiseman slowly manipulates the young prince to be unforgiving to the Earth. Blue Saphir (romanized to baruru safiru, also known as Blue Safiru and Blue Sapphire) is one the members of the Black Moon Clan, a group of antagonists from the Sailor Moon R series. ... Death Phantom (romanized to deefu fantom), who calls itself Wiseman, is an eternally immortal form of Chaos from the future that appeared in the Sailor Moon R story arc. ...


One day, during an attack on Crystal Tokyo, Prince Demando manages to see Neo Queen Serenity and falls in love. He seems to be fascinated with her eyes, and the hate they bore for him during the glimpse they caught of each other.

In all versions of Sailor Moon, including the musicals, Demando's deep obsession with the Neo-Queen eventually drives him to kidnap her and attempt to brainwash her with his 3rd eye so she may join him as his Queen. However, it does not work because Usagi's love for her friends reminds her that she must save the world. In the anime, Sailor Moon is saved by Tuxedo Mask from Prince Demando's castle. In the manga and musical versions, she saves herself and her friends (Ami, Rei, Makoto, and Minako, though Minako is only kidnapped in the musical version.) Prince Demando's final moments are different in every version of the series:

  • He is killed in the manga by Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask after he attempts to combine the Silver Crystals of the future and the present.
  • In the anime, he defends Sailor Moon with his life by blocking an attack from Wiseman made at her.
  • In the musical, like in the manga, Prince Demando attempts to combine the Silver Crystals of the future and present. However, they too are taken from him when time stops. After Saphir and Esmeraude are killed by the Death Phantom (aka Wiseman), Demando helps Sailor Moon defeat him. After the battle is over, flowers grow around Demando's limp body and he repents for his evil. He leaves through the Door of Time and Space possibly hoping to start a new life.
