Plot synopsis

After Kenny's semi-permanent death near the end of Season 5, Butters became the replacement Kenny, until this episode, where he is fired for simply being too "lame." The other boys (Stan, Kyle and Cartman) then begin a competition to find a new fourth friend while Butters, feeling dejected and angry at the world, creates an alternate personality, Professor Chaos, and sets off to spread discord among the world. Unfortunately for "Professor Chaos" but fortunately for the world, Butters is as lame as a supervillain as he is at everything else. Meanwhile, the boys gather twenty local kids (mostly recurring characters on the show and extras) to compete for their friendship. One of the early losers, a boy named Dougie, winds up joining Butters as his sidekick, General Disarray. Together they try to flood the world using a garden hose, and when that fails, unleash their most terrible plan of all, spraying aerosol cans into the air to destroy the atmosphere. Meanwhile, the boys have a contest on who will be their new fourth friend. It is similar to a reality show where they show scenes of interactions and show private individual comments. The three boys pick six finalists to be their friend: Token, Timmy, Jimmy, Tweek, Towelie, and Pip. They decide that Pip acting French wasn't a good choice for them, he was eliminated during a baseball game when asked for tea and crumpets. They decide that Token is a smartass (Kyle points out that Cartman is also a smartass, but Cartman asks, "Why do we need two?"), Timmy can be too self-centered, Towelie can get too high to concentrate, and Jimmy was a suck-up. The decision cuts off into a cliffhanger, where there were three questions, "Will Professor Chaos' latest plot succeed and be the final undoing of Earth? And which boy has been chosen as the replacement for Kenny? And which of these South Park residents (Chef, Mr. Garrison, Jimbo, Officer Barbrady, Ms. Choksondik, and Mayor McDaniels) was killed and will never be seen again?" Trivia

  • Butter's evil alter-ego is very similar to the Marvel comics character Dr. Doom (he wears silvery tin-foil armor with a green cape, similar to the green hooded cloak and silver armor Doom wears.)
  • Butters's evil alter-ego dons a helmet that is very similar to X-men supervillain Magneto.
  • The competition used to find a fourth friend is a parody of The Bachelor. (One of the contestants, angry at being dismissed, says it is stupid to choose a companion you would want to enjoy spending time with on the basis of a contest, clearly criticism of the idea of choosing a spouse to spend the rest of your life with in a reality show T.V. contest.)
  • The song played during the contest is a spoof of the Friends theme.
  • The song Towelie attempts to play on the guitar in the talent show is "Stairway to Heaven" by Led Zeppelin.
  • When Butters complains how mean the world is to him he mentions buying Tampons and going to Maury with balls on his chin.
  • Mr. Derp can be seen when the boys enter the amusement park.
  • After discovering that his plan to bury Ms. Choksondik's eraser is foiled when she has a spare eraser, he takes the bathroom key and goes to the bathroom, only to return as his alter-ego. Butters did not think to hide the key, as when he enters as Professor Chaos, he is holding the key.
  • When Luigi goes to retrieve his rose, Damien is seen somehow holding one.
  • They break the fourth wall while everyone takes turns filling Kenny's spot while the scene transition music plays.
  • Pip is seen disappointed and nervous, contradicting his typical optimism.
  • The complete list of potential fourth members of the gang:

  • Although Butters is resourceful enough to re-direct the satellite uplink signal from Coors Field to his backyard, he is naive enough to believe that simply leaving the water running from his garden hose is sufficient to flood the world.
  • Even though Cartman says there are 20 contestants at the beginning, there are actually 21.
  • Interestingly, Chef was shown to be one of the six candidates likely to be killed during the cliffhanger of this episode. Ironically, he does die in the Season 10 episode "The Return of Chef." The other likely characters shown were Mr. Garrison, Mayor McDaniels (she did attempt suicide in "Die Hippie, Die", but survived), Jimbo, and Officer Barbrady.
  • The ending of this episode pokes fun at mid-season cliffhangers.

Unfortunately for "Professor Chaos" but fortunately for the world, Butters is as lame as a supervillain as he is at everything else.
This episode shows Pip as being nervous during the contest, which is a direct contradiction of his normally optimistic personality.
Interestingly, Chef was shown to be one of the six candidates likely to be killed during the cliffhanger of this episode.
Butters Stotch - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (3413 words)
The episode, titled "Butters' Very Own Episode", gave Butters a complicated backstory where his father was outed as being a closet homosexual and his mother, in an act similar to murderer Susan Smith, attempting to drown her son Butters in a fit of madness.
Ultimately, in the sixth episode of season six, "Professor Chaos", Butters is expelled from the group for being "too lame" and adopts his super-villain alter ego "Professor Chaos" as a means to get revenge against the group and society for rejecting him.
In the same episode he was further terrified as his tap shoe again started another fatal chain of events, leading to the death of five rival dancers (and their instructor) who Butters and Stan were set to face in a dance contest.
