Nimnul made his appearance known in the series premiere serial "To the Rescue", where he was employed by criminal mastermind Aldrin Chlordane to construct a laser cannon with which to create a giant gelatin mold which Chlordane would use to cause an earthquake under the United States Gold Reserve. The laser cannon, however, would only work if powered by the stolen Klutchcoin Ruby; as Chlordane reminded him, without it, "your precious laser is just a big, overgrown flashlight!" Since then, Nimnul frequently appeared as an antagonist. Usually, his plans involved bank robberies or making slave labor out of animals by way of his inventions.

He is an intelligent scientist, but he seems to lack any trace of logic, and his plans are extremely convoluted and contrived (not to mention goofy). In his first show-length episode, "Catteries Not Included", he kidnapped all the cats in the city so he could use an immense amount of static electricity, to create a lightning cannon; in another episode, "A Chorus Crime", he used tap dancing penguins to make icebergs, and sink ships so he could rob them. Nimnul is easily frazzled, and usually his own nutty actions lead to his defeat.

In Normie's Science Project, it was revealed that Nimnul has a nephew named Normie. This character was also featured in issue #13 of the comic book, albeit with a different appearance.

Nimnul's voice was provided by Jim Cummings, who also voiced the show's other regular villain, Fat Cat.
