Encyclopedia > Province of Anadolu

The Province of Anadolu (Turkish for Anatolia) was one of two the core provinces of the Ottoman Empire. It was controlled directly by the sultan from Constantinople (Istanbul). Consisting of western Anatolia, its capital was Bursa. This province was the Ottoman heartland, during the early reign of Bayezid I established as a formal province.

Since 1974 a single exam for all Anadolu High Schools is performed centrally by Ministry of National Education.
