Psychedelic literature encompasses a few different areas:

  Results from FactBites:

Psychedelic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (605 words)
A psychedelic experience is characterized by the perception of aspects of one's mind previously unknown, or by the creative exuberance of the mind liberated from its ordinary fetters.
Psychedelic states are one of the stations on the spectrum of experiences elicited by sensory deprivation as well as by psychedelic substances.
The impact of psychedelic drugs on western culture in the 1960s led to semantic drift in the use of the word "psychedelic", and it is now frequently applied to describe any brightly patterned or coloured object.
Selective Enhancement of Specific Capacities Through Psychedelics (4355 words)
The first phase, typically identified in the literature by the use of the adjective "psychotomimetic," was characterized by dominance of a priori structured models.
The second phase, adopting Osmond's neologism "psychedelic," was characterized by an emphasis on allowing the drug session to run its natural course, in an attempt to minimize the influence of the conceptions and interpretations of the therapist or monitor.
As Table 1 indicates, commonly observed characteristics of the psychedelic experience seem to operate both for and against the hypothesis that the drug session could be used for performance enhancement.
