Villages of origin

The villages of origin of the Purewal clan are Shankar where they can be traced to three Purewal brothers during the Guru Gobind era (circa 1700AD), Ajit Singh Garhi, Hakim Pur and Kalahwalfatu. Known for their fighting abilities and bravery.


Migration

Due to migration over the last forty years, members of the clan can be found in many countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Spain.


Religion

They are adherents of the Sikh faith. One family of the tribe is part of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and currently lives in Canada.
