The Pusan Perimeter was the area in extreme southeast Korea that was held by US and South Korean troops during the furthest advance of the North Korean troops, in the summer and fall of 1950, during the Korean War. It extended along 140 miles and was named after the coastal city of Pusan which served primarily as an airhead for resupply and reinforcement. The NK seriously began an assault on the Pusanperimeter on August 4.
When they finally crossed the Naktong and began their violent assault along the entire Perimeter, simultaneously, only 98,000 NK were attacking about 180,000 US and ROK troops.
