Pyrotechnics is usually abbreviated to "pyro". It involves the use of explosions, flashes, smoke, etc. on-stage.


Note: pyrotechnics need extemely careful handling and pyropots etc. should always be disconnected from the power supply when they are being loaded. There are strict legal and Health and Safety rules in many countries about the handling and storage of pyro.
