Qasidah modern is a type of Indonesian music which originates from the word, Qasidah, an ancient Arabic word for religious poetry accompanied by chanting and percussion. Qasidah modern applies this to a greater audience. This form is popular throughout Egypt to Indonesia and embraces the local languages. Qasidah modern generally involves romantic poetry.
