R. Edward Freeman (December 18, 1951 - ) is an American economist and professor of business administration at the Darden School of the University of Virginia; he has also taught at the University of Minnesota and the Wharton School. He is particularly known for his work on stakeholder theory and on business ethics. He has co-edited recent editions of such standard business textbooks as The Portable MBA and the Blackwell's Handbook of Strategic Management, and serves as the editor for the Ruffin Series in Business Ethics from Oxford University Press.
