Race traitor is a derogatory term which is used by racists and/or activists (of any race) for those who are members of their own race, but who don't share their views, or who work (or are perceived as working) against the vested interests of their race, or who have intimate relationships with members of other races. [1] Sometimes, the term is little more than a crude epithet uttered by racists against those who associate with members of other races (and who don't agree with the racist views of the accuser). Other times, the term as a political insult against persons who are perceived to act politically in a fashion contrary to the interests of their race. One example of a prominent individual accused of being a race traitor in the latter sense is Clarence Thomas, who is often called a race traitor (or an Uncle Tom) by African-American activists, who consider his conservative political views contrary to African-American interests.
