Later in the game, the player encounters a GRU major by the name of Ivan Raidenovich Raikov, who is essentially a parody of Raiden.
The player must disguise themselves as Raikov by knocking him unconscious or killing him (giving Raiden haters an opportunity to beat him) and then drag him to a locker room where Snake will take Raikov's clothes away and use them as a disguise.
His middle name, Raidenovich, is a patronymic name which translates to "Son of Raiden" in Russian, but can also be interpreted as "Thunderbolt's Bitch" (Thunderbolt is Volgin's nickname, which is the literal English translation of the name Raiden).
