Located on the holy banks of River Godavari, it is the fifth largest city in Andhra Pradesh. Attractions The biggest attraction in Rajahmundry is River Godavari. The two bridges are the must see in a lifetime for every people of Andhra Pradesh. There are many beautiful ghats and parks on the river bank. Sir Arthur Cotton had great plans for Rajahmundry but he decided to build a dam in Dowleswaram due to its proximity to a hill that suited his purpose. Medical College" is the first choice for all students of Rajahmundry who dream of a bright medical future. The "Arts College" has a significant historical background and the college now hosts "Adhi Kavi Nannayya University" temporarily. Rajahmundry has excellent schools like Sri Gowthami Public School, APPM Model High School, RCM High School, St Ann's English Medium School, Nivedita Kishore Vihar, TRIPS International School, B.V.M High School, SKVT, NNT, NKV and various other private and Government schools. Transportation - Rajahmundry is well connected to all parts of the state. NH-5 passes by this place so it as an excellent road connectivity to all important places like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam etc.
- Rajahmundry is the biggest railway station for godavari districts and is situated on the madras-howrah railway line.
- Rajahmundry airport[10] which is located in Madhurapudi provides flights to important destinations like Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Chennai. Plans are afoot to expand this airport and to build a new terminal building. The runway would be expanded to handle larger aircraft and night landing facilities would be added. Speculations are rife that plane services would be started to Banglore and Tirupathi as well.
