Ralph Rogers was the founder of Texas Industries in 1951. It became a Fortune 500 company with many interests but remains focused on cement production.


Rogers became civically and politically active in the 1960's, when he is credited with saving the Public Broadcasting System during the Nixon Administration. He later founded the Children's Television Workshop and became a significant philanthropist, primarily in the Dallas area. Note: Public Broadcasting Services is a broadcaster in Malta. ... Industrialist and PBS executive Ralph B. Rogers was born in Boston in 1909 and was educated at Northeastern University.
In addition to his work for PBS, Rogers was chairman emeritus of the Public Communication Foundation of North Texas; a member of the Board of Directors of the National Captioning Institute; and a cofounder of the Children's Television Workshop.
The Papers of Ralph B. Rogers were donated to the National Public Broadcasting Archives, University of Maryland Libraries by Ralph B. Rogers in July 1990, March 1991 and October 1994.
