Ralph Smith was a supporter of women's suffrage which was enacted in the province shortly after the Liberals came to power after ten previous attempts over the years had failed.
Ralph is a General Partner of Battelle Ventures L.P. and Innovation Valley Partners L.P. He covers all aspects of the venture business, including deal sourcing, due-diligence, deal negotiation and transaction closing, Board of Director duties, and start-up company development.
Ralph gained his academic training from Princeton University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), receiving a PhD in Engineering (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering focus) and an MBA in Finance (Corporate Finance and Strategic Planning focus).
Ralph was selected as a Kauffman Fellow by the Center for Venture Capital Education and Entrepreneurial Leadership, affiliated with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
Smith subsequently returned to provincial politics and, returned to the provincial legislature in the 1916 provincial election that brought the British Columbia Liberal Party to power.
