Ramapo Mountain State Forest is a 4,200-acre state park in Bergen and Passaic Counties in New Jersey. The park offers hiking, hunting, canoeing, fishing (including ice fishing), cross-country skiing, horseback riding and mountain biking. Several trails lead to views of the New York City skyline. The 1,417-acre Ramapo Lake Natural Area within the park has several trails to excellent views from rock outcroppings and ledges. A 120-acre mountain lake provides fishing and birdwatching (but no swimming). Wharton State Forest is a state park in the U.S. state of New Jersey.
The largest single tract of land in the state park system of New Jersey, it encompasses approximately 115,000 acres (46 km²) of the Pinelands northwest of Hammonton, in Burlington, Camden, and Atlantic counties.
The forest is named for Joseph Wharton, who purchased most of the land that now lies within the forest in the 19th Century.
