Biography

He was born in the Akbarpur, Faizabad district of Uttar Pradesh. His family were hardware merchants, and his father, Hira Lal, was a congress worker. His mother died when he was two years old. Dr Rammanohar Lohia sounded the clarion call on June 16, 1946, exhorting the people of Panjim, Goa's capital, to resist and defy the inhuman repressive law.
Lohia was studying Economics at the same University and was the secretary of the Indian Students' Asociation in Berlin.
Dr Rammanohar Lohia and Dr Juliao Menezes were promptly put under arrest and whisked away to the police station.
