Rankin Inlet (Inuktitut: Kangiqiniq ᑲᖏᕿᓂᖅ or Kangirliniq ᑲᖏᖅᖠᓂᖅ) is a city in Nunavut territory of Canada. It is in western Hudson Bay. There used to be a nickel mine (closed in 1963) and a copper mine in the area.
RankinInlet (Inuktitut: Kangiqiniq ᑲᖏᕿᓂᖅ or Kangirliniq ᑲᖏᖅᖠᓂᖅ) is a town in Nunavut territory of Canada.
The town was founded by the owners of the RankinInlet Mine, which produced nickel and copper ores there between 1957 and 1962 from an underground operation.
The community is served by the RankinInlet Airport.

Named after RankinInlet (discovered by John Rankin), on which it sits, the community was established as a mining centre in 1955 by North RankinNickel Mines.
The second-largest community in Nunavut, Rankininlet is also a key government, transportation and communications centre.
