Rannoch railway station (Ordnance Survey grid reference NN422578) serves the area of Rannoch in Perth and Kinross. This station is used by people who cannot get to Fort William or Glasgow by car. Its remote location on the Rannoch Moor is particularly picturesque, and makes it very attractive to walkers. When the West Highland Line was built across Rannoch Moor, its builders had to float the tracks on a mattress of tree roots, brushwood and thousands of tons of earth and ashes.
