Reconstruction was a band that John Kahn put together to play when Jerry was busy with the Grateful Dead.It was not an incarnation of the Jerry Garcia Band. The first guitar player was the guitar player from Moby Grape. When Jerry heard the band he wanted to play in a jazz band so he replaced the first guitar player. Reconstruction performed only for an eight-month period in 1979. The band's first performance was January 30, 1979 at the Keystone in Berkeley, California.
