The downfall of the Redmoon Online Global server

In 2003 Redmoon, under the management of Khabal Gaming (now Eden II), came under close scrutiny from the community of the time. A hacker quite well known in the RedMoon community named 'm4rky' (who Philip introduced the game to), managed to gain access to the server database, and successfully obtained 91% of the server's database. Whether this was done out of anger against the GCs and GMs, or for personal reasons, is unknown. Following this came many previously unknown facts such as the misuse of power by the GMs (Game Masters) to gain personal benefits for their own characters. After this the server came back up for a while. He then hacked them again at a later date causing them to take the server down once more. m4rky also hacked the Korean server and obtained the server software for the 4.x version of the game, and released it to the public. Even now people are still creating their own private servers, the most notable being Redmoon Classic Redmoon Classic

Redmoon Classic has been currently running for 3 successful years. One notable and controversial player was Locke/PDawg also known as David. This player was "owning" the server for nearly 2 years during 2005 through mid 2006 with his army, Coldfusion, which he was Commander of. Later Locke/PDawg merged 3 of the Server's armies into one supreme army called, The Empire, and remained Commander. Commanding the most powerful army on the server and being the most powerful player, no one had a chance. Soon this lead to complaints to the GMs, some players quitting the Redmoon Server, and rumors that Locke/PDawg was hacking to be so strong. This individual continued "owning" the server by being nearly invincible for another 6 months after the army merge, where no other player could defeat him in single combat or the army he had created. Later on though during their reign, Locke/PDawg was deleted and the army, without him to lead them, fell apart soon afterward. Rumors say that he was deleted because he was caught hacking or that he quit on his own due to boredom, but neither of those rumors have been proven yet. Another rumor is that there was an "I Quit" post on the Redmoon Classic forum posted by Locke/PDawg which lead to automatic deletion per the game's rules, but this post he had made was forced by the GMs due to controversy of his game items. As of now Locke/PDawg no longer plays Redmoon Classic.

The official server was subsequently shut down under the pretense of maintenance. However, it was never to be brought back online again. JCE (Joy City Entertainment) pulled the plug on Redmoon International as a result of all this controversy. Redmoon Korea, however, remains a popular game to this day. Although, many people today try to revive the game for its good clean fun, but have failed to do so because of their experiences with hacking.
