Encyclopedia > Rejs

Rejs (1970), aka The Cruise, is a Polish film by Marek Piwowski.

This grotesque black-and-white comedy was created during the Communist regime in Poland and was widely regarded as a mockery of some aspects of the system. The film is constructed around hilarious events that took place during a cruise on a river boat of a group of unfamiliar people. It was shot in a quasi-documentary manner and most of the cast were not professional actors.

The movie has a strong following and was acclaimed as the "Polish Monty Python".
