The Rendlesham Incident occurred over a three day span in 1980 and is popularly known as the British version of the Roswell UFO incident. Skepticism Regarding the Rendlesham Incident The Guardian investigated the incident and wrote an article that did much to discredit the accounts of UFO sightings at Rendlesham. A reporter asked local residents about the lights, and all of them indicated that the light originated from a nearby lighthouse. The coastline was at a slightly lower elevation than the surrounding area, and it created the impression of a light hovering slightly above the ground. Hence, logically speaking, if a UFO was spotted, the airmen should have seen another source of light (so that light was coming from the UFO and the lighthouse). To give further pause to accepting the alleged UFO sighting, a meteor was spotted in the exact same area at exactly the time the report drawn up about the incident was created, according to the Guardian's own investigation of the matter.
