Rensselaer is a village located in Ralls County, Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 145.

Geography

Rensselaer is located at 39°40'13" North, 91°32'34" West (39.670375, -91.542677)¹.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 5.2 km² (2.0 mi²). 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.99% water.

Demographics

As of the census² of 2000, there are 145 people, 48 households, and 40 families residing in the village. The population density is 28.4/km² (73.8/mi²). There are 53 housing units at an average density of 10.4/km² (27.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 100.00% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 3.45% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 48 households out of which 43.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 72.9% are married couples living together, 6.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 14.6% are non-families. 12.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.79 and the average family size is 3.00.
