Movement based in Northern Ireland/the occupied six counties (dependant on your political view of the six counties of Ireland that are under British jurisdiction).

It sees itself in the tradition of James Connolly and fights for both an end to British occupation of Ireland and the establishment of a 32 county socialist republic.

It was a split from the Official IRA in 1974 and it's constituent parts are the Irish National Liberation Army (armed wing) and the Irish Republican Socialist Party (political wing).

Key members over the years have included Seamus Costello, Miriam Daly, Thomas 'Ta' Power, Dominic McGlinchey and Gino Gallagher. All met violent deaths at the hands of former comrades or pro-British Loyalist death squads.
