Biography Dempsey's first role was at the age of 14, when he was cast as Peter Pevensie, the lead role in the BBC's adaptation of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 1988. At the age of 17, he made his professional stage debut in the role of Jack in the London production of the award-winning musical Into the woods with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. He also starred as Nick Piazza in the West End hit musical Fame in 1995/96 and as Ugly in the musical Honk!. He has since performed in a large variety of roles in television, film and on stage (e.g. with the Royal Shakespeare Company). Richard Dempsey has just completed a year in the stage adaptation of Eleanor Bergstein's Dirty Dancing at the Aldwych Theatre in London's West Endplaying Neil Kellerman. He is currently appearing in Chatroom/Citizenship at The National Theatre until January 2008 - including an 8-week UK tour and 8 performances in Hong Kong in February 2008.
