Riel (Khmer: រៀល, Symbol ៛) is the national currency of Cambodia. It is used mainly for buying local produce and other merchandise. There were coins for 50, 100, 200, and 500 riels, but their value is so low that they are no longer in common circulation. Banknotes currently in circulation come in demominations of 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 riels.
