Puente del Molino over the Rio Poqueira, between Bubión and Capileira

The Río Poqueira is a river in La Alpujarra region in the province of Granada, in the community of Andalucía, Spain. It rises near the summit of Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Sierra Nevada mountains, and flows south. It cuts through a dramatic gorge, to the sides of which cling the three villages of Capileira, Bubión and Pampaneira which have become noted tourist attractions. South of Pampaneira it joins the Rio Trevélez shortly before flowing into the Rio Guadalfeo. Cuadernos de viaje de Juan Holgado (1058 words)
A charming, cosy place it demonstrates well the typical architectural feature of the "tinao"; parts of the streets where the terraces of the houses are built across the street to join with those on the opposite side, forming shady cool passages and nooks between the houses.
The next few hours of the walk are very exiting for me. Passing into the valley of the Rio Poqueira, the route passes the sister villages of Capileira, Bubión and Pampaneira, to me the most beautifull part of The Alpujarra.
Many foreigners are to be seen, some living here for a large part of the year, particularly during the winter, and many more visit in groups or individually, on walking holidays, I met with more than one large group on this section.

Its population in 2002 was estimated at 799.
It lies at the confluence of the Rio Trevélez with a smaller stream, to the southwest of Mulhacén, the highest peak of the Sierra Nevada mountains.
The Rio Trevélez rises in the Sierra Nevada to the north of the town, and flows south and west from Trevélez, through a narrow gorge to the south of the La Tahá villages, eventually converging with the Rio Poqueira shortly before flowing into the Rio Guadalfeo.
