The Jackson County Courthouse in Ripley in 2007 Ripley is a city in Jackson County, West Virginia, United States. The population was 3,263 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Jackson CountyGR6. Ripley was chartered as the county seat in 1832, and is said to have been named for Harry Ripley, a traveling Methodist preacher who drowned in Mill Creek in 1830.
