Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 26,523 people, 9,842 households, and 7,273 families residing in the county. The population density is 23/km˛ (59/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 98.30% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.54% from other races, and 0.41% from two or more races. 0.93% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
