River Country is a waterpark built in 1976 that is located on the grounds of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. It has been closed since 2000–2001 and is likely scheduled for demolition. It is unknown why the park has been shut down to the public, but rumors suggest pollution in a nearby lake may be led to the park's closing. Also, River Country had significantly lower visitor rates than the other two water parks in the vicinity, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
River Country was styled much like Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World. It tended to be a lot more old-fashioned and harkened back to the 19th century in its decoration.
RiverCountry is unlikely to open at all in 2002 and won't open in the future unless guest attendance is such that both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach repeatedly reach maximum capacity.
RiverCountry is located on the south edge of Bay Lake inside the Fort Wilderness campground complex.
RiverCountry is usually closed for refurbishment during part of the Fall or Winter.
