The Itchen - the Itchen Bridge can be seen in the distance. The River Itchen flows from mid-Hampshire to the head of Southampton Water in the south of England, a total distance of 45 km. The Itchen is formed by the Alre, Tichborne & Candover Brooks, which come together just below New Alresford before flowing down the upper Itchen Valley to the historic city of Winchester. The river then flows South West, through a series of water meadows, and into the Northern suburbs of Southampton.
