Riverside is a town located in Okanogan County, Washington. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 348.

History

Riverside was officially incorporated on December 22, 1913.

Riverside is located at 48°30'10" North, 119°30'31" West (48.502830, -119.508718)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.5 km˛ (1.0 mi˛). 2.3 km˛ (0.9 mi˛) of it is land and 0.2 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 8.25% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 348 people, 143 households, and 95 families residing in the town. The population density is 151.0/km˛ (389.5/mi˛). There are 153 housing units at an average density of 66.4/km˛ (171.2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 90.52% White, 0.29% African American, 5.17% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.15% from other races, and 2.59% from two or more races. 2.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 143 households out of which 30.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 11.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% are non-families. 24.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.43 and the average family size is 2.93.


In the town the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 18.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 105.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 104.0 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $23,125, and the median income for a family is $28,250. Males have a median income of $28,750 versus $19,375 for females. The per capita income for the town is $11,297. 18.4% of the population and 12.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 24.4% of those under the age of 18 and 9.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
