Wainwright sets sights beyond Border skirmish (665 words)
ROB WAINWRIGHT may not quite be the forgotten man of British rugby but the Scotland captain will be aiming to issue a timely reminder of his considerable talents when he leads the Lions against Border at a storm-battered East London this afternoon.
Wainwright's primary aim is to ensure a comfortable victory and build on the Lions' encouraging start against Eastern Province, but, as the most competitive of animals, he also intends to mount a serious bid for Test match recognition.
Wainwright, who did not play before Christmas last season because of groin and Achilles tendon injuries, is in direct competition with Dallaglio for the blindside position, but his versatility could also see him considered elsewere in the back row.
