Robert Parker Parrott (1804-77) was an American soldier and inventor of ordnance, born at Lee, N.H. He graduated at West Point in 1824 and was assigned to the artillery. He remained at the West Point Military Academy as an instructor until 1829, then saw garrison duty, and served against the Creek Indians in 1836, after which he retired to become the superintendent the West Point Iron and Cannon Foundry at Cold Spring, N.
