A graduate of the Broadcasting Institute of Maryland, Quivers has been in the radio business since 1980, joining Stern in 1981 at DC101. Stern moved around to numerous stations, being fired or quitting during the 1980s. Quivers stood by Stern wherever the show would take them, and continued their partnership. Quivers resides in Staten Island, New York, with three cats. From the mid-1990s until April 2007, her longtime boyfriend was a man mysteriously referred to on the radio show as "Mr. X." His anonymity to the Stern audience was merely to protect his career. Since then, Quivers has occasionally referred to him as "Tony."
