Rockwell College, founded in 1864, is a well known private catholic secondary school near Cashel in South Tipperary, Republic of Ireland. . It offers day as well as full boarding. Rockwell is run by the Holy Ghost Fathers. Famous past pupils include Liam O'Flaherty and past Irish president Patrick Hillery. Another past Irish President and a major figure in Irish history Eamon de Valera taught there, as did Thomas MacDonagh, poet and nationalist who was executed after the 1916 rising. It has a proud[citation needed] rugby tradition with several Provincial and International players such as Denis Leamy, and fields strong teams in the Munster Junior and Senior Cups. RTE News - Rockwell Agriculture College to close (164 words)
One of the most famous agricultural colleges in the country is being forced to close because of declining student numbers.
Rockwell Agricultural College in Tipperary has announced that it will not be taking in any students this month as there are not sustainable numbers to keep the college open.
The spokesperson added that the students who applied to study in Rockwell this year would be accommodated in other colleges and negotiations had begun on the redeployment of teachers.

The Rockwell branch of the G.A.A. was founded on the 20th October 1887 and the scroll prescribing this is displayed to this day in Rockwell College.
At a meeting held in Rockwell College in 1926, almost all the clubs listed above came under the one banner and from that year to the present day the renowned Blue and White colours were worn.
Rockwell College also supplied our team with pitches over the years and deserve great acclaim for all the work they have done for our club, as did many other landowners.
