Rockwood is a city located in Wayne County, Michigan. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 3,442.
Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²). 7.0 km² (2.7 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 3,442 people, 1,318 households, and 929 families residing in the city. The population density is 492.2/km² (1,272.9/mi²). There are 1,353 housing units at an average density of 193.5/km² (500.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.64% White, 0.64% African American, 0.99% Native American, 0.61% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.96% from other races, and 1.16% from two or more races. 2.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,318 households out of which 33.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.8% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% are non-families. 24.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.10.
