Rodhopi (Greek: Ροδόπη) or Rodopi is one of the fifty-one prefectures of Greece. It is within the East Macedonia and Thrace periphery and in central Thrace. The Papingio mountains cover the northern part which is part of the Rhodope mountains in which the prefecture is named after. The prefecture is bounded with Xanthi to the west, the Evros prefecture to the east and Bulgaria with the Kurdzhali Province to the north. The mountains covers the north and most of the east. The rest of the land are mainly farmlands including forests and grasslands. Western Thrace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (444 words)
Western or Greek Thrace is the part of the region of Thrace located between the rivers Nestos (Mesta) and Evros (Maritsa, Meriç) in northeastern Greece.
It is divided into the three prefectures of Xanthi, Rodhopi and Evros, which together with the two Greek Macedonian prefectures of Drama and Kavala form the Periphery of East Macedonia and Thrace.
With an approximate area of 8,200 km² and a population of 362,038 according to the 2001 census, Greek Thrace is bordered by Bulgaria to the north, Turkey to the east, and the Aegean Sea to the south.
