Roger L. Gregory is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He was initially appointed on a temporary basis to that court on December 27, 2000 by President Clinton via the Presidential power of recess appointment. Gregory's recess appointment would have lasted only until the Senate recessed at the end of 2001. However, in the spirit of bipartisanship, he was re-nominated by newly-elected President George W. Bush on May 9, 2001 and soon thereafter became the first appellate judge confirmed during Bush's presidency.
